There are stories that break you. And there are stories that lift you. Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within does both — in the most beautiful way possible.
This December, Netflix brings the world into Masaka, Uganda, where a group of orphaned children have turned grief, loss, and survival into rhythm. Their joy has gone viral for years… but this documentary finally reveals the heartbeat behind the moves.
The Film Behind the Famous Kids
Directed by David Vieira Lopez and Moses Bwayo (of Bobbi Wine: The People’s President), A Rhythm Within goes deeper than the clips we scroll past online.
It’s intimate.
It’s tender.
It’s the story of kids who refuse to let their past define their future.
These are children who have lost parents to war, disease and poverty, yet every dance step becomes an act of hope.
Why Harry & Meghan Joined the Journey
Yes! That Harry and Meghan.
Through Archewell Productions, the couple teamed up with Campfire Studios and Wontanara Productions to bring the Masaka Kids’ story to a global audience.
This wasn’t random. During the COVID lockdown, Harry and Meghan stumbled upon the kids’ videos — and their son Archie became a fan. That connection eventually grew into a full-blown documentary partnership. They even donated $50,000 to support the Masaka Kids ahead of the film’s release.
The Trailer Everyone Is Talking About
Released in November, the trailer is a punch to the gut — in the best way. Smiles. Dusty roads. Tight hugs. Explosive choreography. And beneath it all: the reality these kids live through.
The tagline says it all: “Joy is our rebellion.”
